Single-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation delivered over the primary motor cortex evokes systematic distortions in the perceived size and structure of one’s own hand. By relating these perceptual changes to the stimulated motor representation, we show how motor-cortical activity contributes to body representation and multisensory integration in healthy participants, with implications for sensorimotor rehabilitation.
